Technology... is a queer thing. It brings you great gifts with one hand, and it stabs you in the back with the other. ~C.P. Snow, New York Times, 15 March 1971
Below I'll outline some interesting tidbits and the necessary procedures for the laptop cart to be more than an expensive box!
Interesting Tidbits
1) Did you know that every time a person logs into a specific school computer for the first time it takes longer to load because it needs to load their profile into the computer? Logging into that individual computer again that won't take nearly as long because your profile is already loaded. This means it would be beneficial to assign each student in your class a certain laptop number so that log in times are quicker and more work time is available for your students!
2) The laptops need to be connected to the network with the ethernet cords every couple of weeks so the laptops continue to run smoothly. We will be designating a team of students to bring the laptops to the library once every two weeks so they can connect to their "mothership" and continue to work well for us.
3) The lock on the door is simply a deterrent. Please refer to the email with the link to this site for the easy to remember combination.
4) When the Board "refreshes" our computers next, we will be getting another laptop cart for use downstairs.
